Honeyboy’s Centennary

My partner just pointed out that today would be the 100th birthday of David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Trix Records only lifetime Grammy winner, and perhaps the least famous musician so acknowledged (see O&S #25).   Honeyboy passed away not 4 years ago, at the age of 96, and I had the honor of releasing his first, and thankfully not last, full length LP (Trix 3319) back in 1978.  Confidant of Robert Johnson, and neighbor (in Chicago) of Barack Obama, Honeyboy is much missed. Here he is introduced by my old friend and colleague Alan Lomax, when I was not yet one year old: Alan Lomax Introduces David “Honeyboy” Edwards/The Army Blues (1942)
